- 01.What is Twinson?
Twinson by Deceuninck is a unique single base material with the natural appearance and warm feel of wood and the low maintenance and durability of PVC. During the production process, wood and PVC fibres are mixed to a dough-like consistency and extruded to the desired shape. Additives such as colorants, coupling agents, stabilizers... help tailor the end product to target applications which include wall facing, flooring and terracing for outdoor use. Twinson is available in a range of natural colours. It is 100% recyclable as well as being an environmentally friendly alternative to tropical hardwood.back to list

- 04.Does Twinson expand?

This process stabilises after a few months, depending on precipitation and humidity. Twinson systems have been designed to absorb this normal amount of expansion.back to list
- 05.How durable is Twinson?
According to the EN 350-1 standard that describes the durability of different kinds of wood-based products, Twinson attains the highest classification. Twinson has been intensively tested according to the EN 15531-1 standard that describes the methods for testing wood-based materials and products. Criteria included are artificial weathering (discoloration and impact retention), moisture resistance (mass increase, length increase, width increase and thickness increase), resistance to termites, resistance to basidiomycetes and resistance to soil-inhabiting, soft-rotting micro-fungi. back to list
- 06.Will Twinson change colour?
All decking materials containing natural fibres will weather naturally over time. During the first months of exposure to the elements, Twinson will weather to a slightly lighter shade of its original colour. This process is a result of a combination of water absorption of the wood fibres and UV stabilisation at the surface of the boards. Once initial stabilisation has taken place, additional colour change will be minimal.back to list

- 14.How do I keep my terrace from turning green?
To help prevent mould and mildew, sweep your deck regularly to keep gaps between planks free from debris. Keep your gutters clean, since overflow from a leaf-clogged gutter above a deck can result in mould and mildew. Keep the area beneath the deck well ventilated and free of materials that retain moisture.
A high-quality landscape fabric covered with washed stone or pea gravel to prevent weed growth should be placed under decks that are installed near ground level. Plants should be placed in large flowerpots or planters, and you should regularly clean beneath these to prevent mould or mildew from soil runoff and trapped moisture. Flowerpots or other objects can be moved regularly to ensure even aging.
Your terrace should be cleaned regularly with a liquid bleach solution and a high-pressure cleaner. Apply the liquid bleach solution with a soft brush and allow it to soak in. When cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner, ensure that the applied pressure is not higher than 100 bar. Maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm between sprayer and planks, move the sprayer in the direction of the grooves and avoid circular movements.back to list
- 15.Can I install Twinson Terrace and Terrace+ inside?
Twinson Terrace and Terrace+ were not specifically designed for indoor use. Because Twinson consists of natural wood fibres, its colour changes due to water absorption and UV exposure. In the case of a (partially) covered terrace, this aging can result in variances in colour. To avoid this, periodically wet the covered part(s) of the terrace until the aging process has stabilised. This can be done by rinsing with water or using a high-pressure cleaner in the direction of the grooves, maintaining a minimum distance of 30 cm and a maximum pressure of 100 bar. back to list
